We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our team in Pittsfield, Maine. In this critical role, you will maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other construction machinery, to ensure optimal performance and safety. This shop-based position focuses on hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting, and collaboration within a dynamic, safety-first environment.
Job Responsibilities- Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify malfunctions.
- Repair or replace components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, wiring, and other key systems.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and software for precise assessments.
- Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and safety standards.
- Work with a service writer to create, track, and close out work orders, ensuring all tasks are accurately documented.
- Work closely with equipment operators to understand performance issues and recommend solutions.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations while maintaining a clean and hazard-free shop environment.
Qualifications/Requirements- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working on heavy equipment, construction machinery, or similar industrial equipment.
- Brand-specific technical training a plus
- Experience with aerial lifts, telehandlers, loaders, bucket trucks, and cranes is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A or B preferred.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, software, and specialized equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
