Cianbro handled the demolition of the maintenance building followed by the removal of pavement surrounding the building. Timber piles were removed where the building sat on pile bents. The seawall and curbs surrounding the area of the wharf to be infilled were saw cut and removed. Pipe piles were driven and concrete pile caps were installed. Precast deck planks were set on top of the pile caps, an approach slab and storage slab was placed, and a CIP deck was then placed over the precast deck planks. Fine Grading and paving was completed in the surrounding area.
The project required a design for a lifting frame for setting of precast deck panels. The project also required a fabricated wheel to be used to install a backer rod along with a grout sled to grout the precast deck panel shear keys.
